John Parkerson, MD MS, is a 1983 graduate of the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore. He completed an Internship in General Surgery, along with two years of residency training in Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Maryland Hospital.
In 1989, he finished a two-year residency in General Preventive Medicine and earned a Master of Science degree in Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine from the Graduate School at the University of Maryland. In addition, Dr. Parkerson is Board Certified in Occupational Medicine since 1993.
Dr. Parkerson's Accomplishments
Dr. Parkerson is a Certified Independent Medical Examiner (C.I.M.E.) who is accredited through the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners. He is also a Medical Review Officer through additional training and testing with the Medical Review Officer Certification Council. These additional credentials identify him as an expert in independent medical examination and drug testing. In addition, Dr. Parkerson is the former national Medical Director for Cambridge Integrated Services Group, a third-party administrator for workers' compensation claims. He was the Associate Director of the Johns Hopins Center for Occupational and Evironmental Health, and the Medical Director for IWIF.
Dr. Parkerson's Mission
Dr. Parkerson established this solo practice to provide quality occupational medicine services for work related injury and disease. The main offerings of this practice include independent medical examinations, case management, and drug test reviews. The doctor's practice is in a centrally located Baltimore office, as well as many satellite locations. The geographic areas he serves include Maryland, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Delaware, Virginia and the District of Columbia.
